Packing Slippery and Sliding Mud in the Trenchant Walls of My Old Adobe Hut

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Gerald_Marchewka]Gerald Marchewka
Let them be modern
if they wish
But here I sit packing slippery and sliding mud
in the trenchant walls of my old adobe hut
On the border
in a land not so far from Santa Fe,
a billowing gale winds blows
as the briny salt begins to scour the tiny pappilae
that adorn my hard fast festering wounds
But what do I care
the gulf is in flux and I am safe and warm
Let the sea breeze strike with the wallop
of a giant humpback whale
It's dorsal fin brings me closer to the source
Near the entrance of your love
So let it rain as it will
You know where to get me if you must
But my spartan floor is only dirt
And the kitchen has no tasty food
Yet there is a sturdy chair if you should
decide to sit
A light bulb hangs from my sky
and I must admit that it is an invention
for which I continue to express my heartfelt thanks
I use it to illuminate my room because
there is no window from which I gaze
Yet I seem to have no difficulty
appreciating the beauty of the scenes
My mind is rich and the night is young
Shining stars always seem to surface
when my heart is full and my pants are dry
In a September wind I once saw a pretty
dark haired girl
Her head was bent
but her back was straight
From there I looked through her navel
until I could see a lecherous little man
He told me where to go
So I accepted his sagely advice
It led me to a place with white lights
and cotton fields,
dark bushes and welcoming trains
From there I could see the bright blue thatch
And above a thorny patch
it rang with the thundering sound of a crashing cymbal
wreaking havoc upon my brain
But it is only the nature of a primitive mind
when the sea shells shatter
and the clever dolphins reign
Cast me aside because a steely fish
has just begun to knock upon my door
There is a circle of ants surrounding my heart
and I am beginning to feel afraid
The night moon is upon us
I can even feel it in my bones
Please let some ice begin to gather
It is too hot and I need some urgent relief coming
An icecream cone would be splendid
but let it be vanilla
There is only so much of this that I can
always be forced to take
